Exploraudio was established in 2006 to market the H-clamp range of novel 'InstruMounts' (devices for attaching microphones or other items to musical instruments) and to develop other products that help musicians and sound technicians to deliver or capture the best possible performances.

Our specialisation is in equipment for acoustic instruments and because the microphone remains the best technology for capturing the true acoustic sound our major focus is on improving the performance and ease of use of microphones, either alone or in combination with pick-ups.

The company's philosophy is to provide products that either offer something entirely new or are tailored more closely to the demands of the acoustic musician. We work with music industry experts and world class musicians to design products that give them the tools they need to excel both on stage and in the studio.

The first challenge we set ourselves was to make using microphones with acoustic instruments as easy as possible.

As much as pick-ups have improved over the years, microphones still capture the essence of an acoustic instrument's sound much better and for the foreseeable future, they always will.  Neverthelss, each microphone has its own character and different microphones suit different instruments and different environments (from the 'flat' acoustics of many studios to the much livelier ambience of a church). Performing with microphones on stage and in the studio also presents many practical issues for performer and technician alike. So the H-clamp was designed to make life easier for both performer and technician, offering new options to both and releasing them from some of the constraints associated with using microphones.
