Rycote InVsion Shockmounts
Many microphones have sufficient isolation between the casing and/or cable and the capsule to require no additional isolation when being used with the H-clamp. However there are some that are more sensitive to vibration transmitted through the casing or cable.
For live performances only the least well isolated of microphones is likely to be seriously affected but when the most subtle of nuances in the amplified tone are important or in many recording (stage or studio) situations, the added isolation provided by a good shockmount can make all the difference. The Rycote InVision range of shockmounts has gained a reputation for unrivalled performance in a wide variety of applications and is ideally suited to use with the H-clamp.
Rycote's InVision miniature microphone suspension range is the ideal solution for isolating small to medium length cylindrical microphones. For use with the H-clamp, the smaller models (INV-1 and INV-3) are a perfect match and with the microphone cable trapped in the shockmount's integral cable clip, they hold most small capsule condenser microphones firmly enough for most live and studio applications. For occasions when particularly vigorous motion is expected, longer / heavier models of small capsule condenser microphones will need the more rigid / robust suspension of the INV-7. Although the INV-7 is larger than the INV-1 or INV-3, it still works very well and unobtrusively with the H-clamp for the longer / heavier small caspule microphones.
The InVision suspensions all use Rycote’s patented "Lyre" suspension clips, a revolutionary non-elastic microphone suspension that. This design provides excellent isolation of the microphone casing (or cable, with the INV-1) from any vibration transmitted through the H-clamp, preventing degardation of the performance of even the most sensitive of microphones. All the Rycote models include and integral cable clip to increase stability of mounting and prevent the microphone cable flapping around. When used in conjunction with the cable restraints supplied with the H-clamp, this makes coping with the cable no more inconvenient than with DI cables from pickups.
The Lyres are unaffected by temperatures between -35 degrees C to over 100 degrees C, do not deteriorate and are virtually unbreakable.
